Yeah. Apart from the obvious (Mira is quite pretty, and XR quite likes pretty), what do you think might they see in each other?
Mira is a no-brainer, she's smart, pretty, has kickdonkey worrior princess skillz0rz, and she is in fact royalty. AND PSYCHIC. (In fact, I've always felt that Mira could easily have become a Mary Sue with poor writing or maybe even poor voice acting, but as it is, she's excellently pulled off. I love her. <3)
XR, on the other hand, is harder. He's not overly competent, he's not exactly conventionally attractive, and let's face it. He can be downright abrasive. So, what would Mira, who is uber, ever see in XR, who is kinda pathetic?
Well, XR can be somewhat intelligent and witty, and I think Mira enjoys their conversations... and he does have an occasional heroic moment, which she seems to find endearing. But apart from that, there's not much reason for her to love him, more the other way around.
Then again, if you look really closely (and I know this is a stretch but I'm just theorizing, I'm just bouncing ideas around) both of them are kind of... different, aren't they? We know Mira doesn't get along with her people, and XR doesn't really seem to get along with his either. I'm sure he THINKS we does, but look at him- the autopilot in NOS-4-A2 wasn't too impressed with him, the Carebots acted like he wasn't there, and 42 dumped his can the second she got the chance.
In fact, how often do we even SEE XR interact with another robot unless he's shooting at it? He seeks out the company of not robots, but organics, who are like... 'lol lamz0r robot n00b'. I don't think he quite realizes this (maybe subconsciously, but not consciously, at least, not yet)- if he does, that could have interesting consequences.
And another thing- both Mira and XR have daddy issues. It took me forever to realize this, but it's really quite obvious. They just deal with them in reverse- Mira tries to escape while XR stalks and glomps and 'calls him my friend'. And neither of them has a mommy. Aww.
Then there's this. Have you ever noticed that both XR and Mira choose to disobey authority whenever it suits them to do so? Booster sure doesn't do that. Look at Little Secrets.
Booster: I have a man-eating plant! D:
Mira: Don't tell Buzz, I want to take care of it!
XR: Don't tell Buzz, I don't want to go back to Rhizome!
Booster: Oh... okay...
Those are pretty different responses, but they boil down to being similar- 'Don't tell Buzz, because I don't like what he'd do, and I want things done my own way.'
Good Old Buzz: Mira runs after her team when she shouldn't because she hates that they excluded her. She winds up almost dying.
Revenge of the Raenoks: XR teases a prisoner because he's irritated that HE WASN'T INCLUDED... hmm? and winds up in huge trouble because the prisoner escapes.
Both of them wanted the same thing, but Mira is aggressive about it while XR is passive-aggressive.
Downloaded: XR keeps files he shouldn't have despite his teammate's remonstrations because he likes how it makes him feel and he thinks nothing bad will happen.
Supernova: Mira stays oncrack energy despite her teammates' remonstrations because she likes how it makes her feel and she thinks nothing bad will happen.
Granted, Mira was actually addicted, but there are still similarities of motivation. Both Mira and XR are stubborn and selfish, and ignore authority when it suits them. But in different ways. Mira is pretty open about it ('I want to know what Buzz is doing COME WITH ME RIGHT NOW') while XR is sneaky and underhanded ('I want to play illegal card games... -sneaks into basement-') And they want different things- but they both want what they want.
Think about it. Buzz only ever- EVER- breaches authority when he thinks it absolutely has to be done (for justice, not to get ahead himself) and even then he doesn't like it. (Besides Torque's episode, but I think he learned his lesson then because I don't remember it happening a second time.) Booster? NOOOOO. o-o
So... yeah. Feel free to add or challenge points.
